Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2018 Ford Taurus

Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the CURT T-connector trailer wiring harness here on our 2018 Ford Taurus. So a trailer wiring harness is gonna be one of the essential things you need in order to successfully flat tow a trailer with your Taurus here. Now, in addition to this, you're gonna need a trailer hitch as well as a ball mount and hitch ball, which we do sell here at etrailer. Now the trailer wiring harness, basically what this does is this is gonna transmit the signals from our vehicle to our trailer so we can let other motorists out on the road know what signals we're gonna be making. A lot of times, some of our camper trailers, those large boxy trailers, actually block the taillight signals on the vehicle, therefore, we have to have a way transmit the signals to other motorists. So this particular kit here is very easy to use. more

Today, on this 2013 Ford Taurus, we're going to install part number 118599 from Tow Ready. To install our wiring harness, we need to get inside the trunk and get access to the wires behind the taillights. We'll go ahead and move our floor covering forward just a little bit so we can go ahead and take our threshold and pull straight up on it to release it. There it goes. Just pull straight up. Next, we have to get access behind this liner right here, so go ahead and remove this plastic rivet, the tie-down, as well as these attachment points here, as well. A trim-panel tool works best for these. more

Today on this 2010 Ford Taurus, we're going to install part number C56093. This is a Curt T connector vehicle wiring harness for four pole flat trailer connectors. We'll need access for our wiring, so we need to open up the trunk. Our wiring connections are going to be behind the taillights, so to get access to the panels behind them, we have to remove the threshold and the floor covering. Pull the weather strip back a little bit, sometimes you can do this, sometimes you can't, it makes it easier getting underneath the threshold. Pop it loose, I'm just using a plastic pry bar here to get underneath of it and gently pry up to unsnap it. There's a snap here, here, there's a snap here and one right here. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2009 Ford Taurus

Today on the 2009 Ford Taurus we're going to be installing Wiring Harness part # 118447. We're starting off inside the trunk of our Taurus and we're going to start up by locating the ports that we're going to be plugging our wiring harness into. This ports are located on both the driver and passengers side of the vehicle behind the carpeting here and they're basically mounted behind each one of the tail lights. So we're going to need to remove a few things to gain access to those ports I'm going to start by removing this rear threshold piece first and there are several fasteners that are holding it in into the place. You remove the push pin fasteners and I'm going to be using a basic rivet removal tool if you don't have one of these you can just use a flat head screw driver. We just unscrew the tie down points and again pop-out the fasteners at the top. more

Today we are working on a 2001 Ford Taurus. We will be installing Tow Ready T-one connector part number 118375. First we will need to access the trunk of the vehicle. We are going to remove the spare tire well cover. Next we are going to remove the rear threshold. To do that, we have a total of five fasteners. We have a cargo hook here and one identical on the passenger side. Then we will remove the three push button fasteners across the bottom. Alright, with our three fasteners removed, I am just going to pull out on the bottom of our threshold here. Slowly work it up. With our rear threshold removed, we can pull the carpeting back and expose the rear taillight wiring. Here is our connector. Pull out a little bit on the locking tab. Disconnect them. We will take our green wire connector and plug it in line with the manufacturers wiring harness. Make sure you press them firmly in place until the locking tabs reconnect. 0:57 more

We are inside the trunk area here, and we are going to go ahead and point out the mounting location for the wiring harness. The plugs for the harness are actually located behind the tail lights, behind the interior paneling here. To gain access to these plugs we need to remove this back threshold piece, which is held in with two thumbscrews, one on each side here, and then three push plugs as well. So when we go ahead and remove that piece, that will allow us to pull back the felt here and gain access to the plugs. So we are going to go ahead and do that now. more
